Kuala Lumpur; Penang; Langkawi.
After 24hours of travel (London – Doha – 8 hour airport wait - Kuala Lumpur) the Petronas Towers were one of my first Malaysian sights and they are just incredible! KL is such a great city and travel hub, you can fly in, out and around Asia from there for pretty cheap.
There wasn’t much to see or do in Penang, it was just a stop over on the way to Langkawi.
Langkawi was my first South-East Asian beach experience and WOW WOW WOW what incredible beaches. Langkawi is definitely where the tropical beach bug started for me. Although I did stay in some pretty rough beach bungalows there……..nasty! SO.MANY.BUGS.

Kuala Lumpur; Redang.
- Malaysian – Kuala Lumpur – First time seeing my parents in 18 months.
I met my parents in Kuala Lumpur for a holiday. It was the first time I had seen them in 18 months. We had a great couple of days catching up in Kuala Lumpur.
- Malaysia – Redang – gorgeous beaches but not a fan of the resort holiday!
Then we flew (on a teeny, tiny plane, not my favourite) to the island of Redang. This island was beautiful, although I had just been to the Philippines so it couldn’t compete with that!
But it was a great place to relax and top up my tan. As I was with my parents we stayed in a resort….definitely not my favourite way to travel.
